Kickstarter + Public Speaking

Kickstarter

Launching a Kickstarter fundraising campaign helped us bring our national tour to life and enabled us to coach all of our workshops for free, everywhere we went. Just as importantly, the campaign helped us build relationships with schools, programs, and communities around the country that would benefit most from the curriculum we had created.

I contributed to a range of production areas for our fundraising campaign, including script-writing, story-boarding, filmmaking, and editing and producing our final video. This required strategically organizing hours of voiceovers and footage into a compelling, 4-minute narrative that would inspire a wide audience of educators to believe in our mission and help us achieve our fundraising goal.

We exceeded our fundraising goal by $10k, raising over $35k on Kickstarter from more than 500 individual backers. During the campaign, our project was honored as a Kickstarter Project of the Day and mentioned in a New York Times video feature on design.

The Girls Driving for a Difference team is exceptional in their ability to articulate ambitious but focused goals, their capacity and dedication to see those goals through to the end, and their skills for telling the story of their project in a way that invites others to join so their vision and work grows with each encounter.
